International Onboarding Program (IOP)

The shortage of skilled labour is a growing challenge for many branches of industry. There is a lack of qualified specialists, particularly in high-tech sectors such as mechanical and automotive engineering, the semiconductor industry and photovoltaics. The consequences are serious: companies are unable to realise orders, which leads to a loss of sales and a weakening of innovative strength.

To counteract this problem, the GWT has launched the ‘International Onboarding Programme’. It supports international students from the University of Excellence TU Dresden in gaining their first professional experience in the Saxon economy. The aim is to enable these highly qualified young professionals to integrate into the German labour market at an early stage - through targeted employment as student assistants.
