Innovation Center Prof. Dr.-Ing. Niels Modler & Prof. Dr.-Ing. Maik Gude

Lightweight construction and plastics technology

The Lightweight Construction and Plastics Technology Innovation Center conducts cutting-edge research along the entire research spectrum of lightweight construction and plastics technology with its specialization areas "Functionally Integrative Lightweight Construction", "Lightweight Design and Structural Evaluation" and "System Lightweight Construction and Mixed Construction Methods". The core competencies of the Innovation Center lie in the development, design and optimization of components and systems for high-performance lightweight construction, as well as in the associated manufacturing processes up to series production readiness. Taking into account all material classes from steel to plastics to ceramics, the entire development chain "material - design - simulation - production - prototype tests - quality assurance - costs" is considered. The mixed construction method according to the Dresden model of a "function-integrative system lightweight construction in multi-material design" plays a central role.
