The shortage of skilled workers in Saxony has serious economic consequences. Due to demographic change, more and more industries are struggling to recruit qualified personnel. The consequences are serious: orders cannot be realized, which leads to considerable losses in turnover and profits for companies. The shortage of skilled workers also causes existing staff to be overworked, which jeopardizes the quality and safety of work and can lead to additional absences. Professions in mechanical and automotive engineering as well as in the semiconductor and photovoltaic industries, where highly qualified specialists are essential for innovative strength and competitiveness, are particularly affected.
Skills shortages: loss of sales and profits due to a lack of skilled workers in key sectors of the economy
Your benefits at a glance
- Access of highly qualified TU Dresden students to companies for better identification and retention
- Provide students with professional support during their time as a student assistant
- Fresh know-how and new approaches thanks to the technological expertise of international talent
How is the program implemented?
Students work as student assistants (SHK) in the company and carry out their tasks there. The company is in direct contact with the students regarding their work. At the same time, GWT assumes a central role as a contractual partner: the students conclude their employment contract directly with GWT, while the company also enters into a contract with GWT. GWT thus acts as an intermediary and takes care of the administrative processing between all parties involved. This allows companies and students to work together in an uncomplicated manner, while GWT provides the organizational framework.
